SATURDAY 7th MARCH

NEXT CONCERT – Bridge Ensemble Leeds will be performing at our home venue, Harehills Lane Baptist church, on Saturday 7th March, conducted by Yannis Daoutis.

We welcome Sheffield-based concert pianist Hyuk Namkoong to perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, along with Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony ‘Eroica’, and Emilie Mayer’s Faust Overture.

Seats will be available to book on Eventbrite from February. Any remaining spaces will be available on the door. Please book early!

Our concerts are Pay What You Decide – so you can come for free, or you can make a contribution at the end of the concert to help us cover the cost of running the orchestra.

Please note, this venue is located in a residential area so parking is on-street only.

Hyuk Namkoong

Hyuk was born in South Korea and moved to Bahrain with his family at an early age.  He won first prize in the Young Musician of the Gulf, alongside with the Best Pianist Award and Most Promising Bahrain-Based Musician Award in 2010. In the same year, he received third prize in the First International Chopin Competition in Kuwait. Further, he has previously been invited to participate in the Second Aegaeon Art International Festival in Greece. In 2014, he has performed in a Winners Concert in the Crescendo Summer Institute in Hungary. Hyuk also achieved the B. Mus degree from the Royal Academy of Music in 2015.

In 2016, Hyuk Namkoong’s performance of Nikolai Kapustin’s Sonata-Fantasia at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has appeared on the news (Herald Scotland). He was also described as a “power-driven” classical pianist. Hyuk received his Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2017, where he was under the tutelage of Petras Geniušas. After finishing his studies at the RCS, Hyuk returned to South Korea to complete his military service which is compulsory for every South Korean man. During the two years of service, Hyuk had the opportunity to perform in front of the general of Republic of Korea Army.

He currently is a conductor of the Concert Orchestra in Sheffield University.
